What are the best traits for Project Zomboid?
Keen Hearing and Fast Learner are two of the best beginner traits in Project Zomboid.
The Best Project Zomboid Build
As of the current Project Zomboid build 41.77 the best starting build revolves around being barely self-sustaining with a high potential for growth. Taking the powerful skills Fast Learner, Lucky, and Dextrous are long-term positive traits that massively help a small team of players.
Tier | Trait | Effect |
---|---|---|
S | High Thirst | 200% thirst |
S | Weak Stomach | 200% chance of food illness. Food illness lasts shorter. |
A | Slow Reader | 70% reading speed. |
A | Prone to Illness | 125% progression rate of zombification. 170% chance of catching a cold, 120% cold strength, and 150% cold progression speed. |
The number one negative trait, Weak Stomach's effect is so easy to avoid that it's practically free points. Weak Stomach increases the chance of food illness, but food illness is only a problem if players are eating rotten or ill-cooked food.
Allows you to eventually lose the smoker trait over time from abstaining from cigarettes. The chance to quit increases as you approach 4 weeks. If you were a smoker, quit, and smoke again you will regain the smoker trait.
If your character becomes overweight, as a result, you will experience the loss of endurance and speed, and your general vulnerability to damage will be increased.
Fast Learner – 130% XP for all skills except Strength and Fitness. Despite there being the exception of Strength and Fitness, this trait allows you to learn everything else quicker. Although it costs a lot of points, this trait gains value the longer you're able to survive, and it quickly pays itself off in my opinion.
As innocuous as this may seem, boredom in Project Zomboid can lead to unhappiness, and if your character's unhappy, they'll perform actions slower than usual.
Without any crafting skill specializations, starting Project Zomboid as a lumberjack is one of the game's easier options. You start off with extra points in fitness and strength, meaning you can run longer and hit zombies harder, as well as carry more stuff. As a bonus, you're proficient in axes.
Their bodies will eventually start to experience putrefaction and lose much of their body mass as time passes. This will also weaken and slightly reduce their speed. However, the zombies won't die from decomposition, the only way a zombie will completely rot away is from after they die.
Is there a chance to survive a bite in Project Zomboid?
Is there a cure for zombie bites in Project Zomboid? The short answer is no. Unless you or the owner of the server you're playing in turned the setting off, bites are 100% fatal every time.
Name | Type | Effect |
---|---|---|
Light Eater | Positive | 75% hunger. |
Low Thirst | Positive | 50% thirst. |
Lucky | Positive | +10% chance of finding loot. -5% chance of failing item repairs. Affects search mode. Not available in multiplayer. |
Organized | Positive | 130% capacity for all containers, including boxes, cupboards and cars |

Sunday Driver is a horrible trait that you should never take. I had to test it afterwards. Even running over Zeds with Sunday Driver slows you down considerably more than normal..
Brave. With the amount of fighting you can potentially take part in during your Project Zomboid playthrough, the Brave trait can sometimes be imperative to a long survival time. It makes you panic less, and during combat when your chance at panicking is high, it can be a lifesaver. It costs -4 trait points.
Finally, Queasy can be an early sign that the player has been infected by the Knox Virus, and will soon turn into a zombie. Project Zomboid's zombie plague is irreversible, so Queasy survivors who have recently received a bite or laceration may only have a few hours to live.
Erosion is a game mechanic which causes growth of plants and deterioration of walls and buildings in full. In base Project Zomboid, it takes 100 days until 100% growth. The day that Erosion reaches 100% growth can be changed in Sandbox settings.
In-game, the excess of junk food over time, as well as the lack of exercise, can lead to being overweight (between 85 to 100 kg.) and obesity (100 kg. or more).
Once your weight goes low enough, THE TRAIT WILL ACTUALLY DISAPPEAR. It can be easily obtained again if you eat too much.
You can gain weight however to get out of that 50-65 range, at which point you will no longer be afflicted by the various associated effects of being very underweight- Similarly, should you ever lose weight and fall back into the 50-65 range, You'll suffer them once more.
Hat: Winter Hat, Crash Helmet, and Motorcycle Helmet
Winter hats provide the best possible environmental protection in the slot with no downsides, and are found on shelves anywhere clothes would normally be found, albeit uncommonly.
What is the easiest town in Project Zomboid?
Rosewood is probably the easiest starting location in the game as its small size and rural location guarantee a low zombie population. There are a few isolated farmhouses outside the town that make good starting bases, and a construction site in the south-west that's a great spot to find building supplies.
Foraging can provide players with crafting equipment for early gear or even food if you're desperate enough. In the early days of Project Zomboid, you'll be doing a lot of scrounging around for resources. But there's a much prettier way to put it: foraging.
At the top of the Debug Menu, select 'General Debuggers' and then select 'Moodles and Body' in the next window. From there, you can scroll down and find the God Mode option which can be selected. It sits next to the options to turn invisible and become a ghost too.
How to avoid the Project Zomboid helicopter. If you're concerned about getting caught as the helicopter flies over unannounced, you can use a radio to find out when this event will happen. To do this, you'll need to use a radio to tune into the Automated Emergency Broadcast System, or AEBS.
If you see sickness moodles and do not have food poisoning or a general infection listed in the health menu, but you do have a scratch, laceration, or bite from a zombie, you are infected and will die.
It is recommended that players stay inside for the entire day, as the helicopter will draw hordes towards the player if they're spotted by following them.
veteran is only usefulif you wanna level up aiming/reloading. brave/desensitized you get for free after a while. But no, veteran is not meta, in fact I personally almost never take professions because the extra points can be well worth it. Fit and Strong are two traits I take up every time.
Fire officers in Project Zomboid are one of the best starting occupations for multitudes of reasons. They get an extra skill point in axe, sprinting, strength, and fitness, so they are one of the most physically capable characters in the game.
Yes. Lights will attract zombies.
Are zombies attracted to player made structures zomboid?
Zombies aren't attracted specifically to player constructions. Zombies will just try to path through anything they can destroy IF they saw/heard the player. This includes your constructions.
Player characters with a bleeding wound or blood-soaked dirty bandages will attract nearby zombies. - Players with bleeding wounds attract zombies.
Fracture. Fractures are often caused by falling from great heights, which greatly reduces the player's movement speed. A fracture will heal on its own over time, however a splint can be used to reduce this greatly, by approximately 10-fold.
How much o f the world is infected? All of the world is infected and only a minor groups survived.
It means he enabled PVP. It's the green axes in the corner of the screen. They'll turn red when activated.
Eagle Eye will give your character a 180 degree field of view instead of 160 degrees. Keen Hearing extends the circle around your character, and you, as the player, can hear audio cues (such glass breaking and footsteps) farther too.
Old drivers, young drivers, fast drivers, slow drivers, angry drivers, distracted drivers – the list goes on. Unfortunately, each group is often guilty of some risky or irresponsible behavior behind the wheel. Often, these risky and irresponsible practices cause dangerous and even fatal automobile accidents.
Teenagers are the most dangerous drivers due largely to their lack of experience. To help make young drivers safer, parents should teach them good driving habits and consider enrolling them in a defensive driving course.
Survey respondents said that texting while driving is considered the most egregious sin of all, with 93.7% in agreement. Rounding out the top 5 most annoying driving habits: tailgating (92.5%), not checking blind spots (91.5%), road rage (91.3%), and not using turn signals when changing lanes (90.2%).
Project Zomboid
Honestly, large vehicles hitting zombies at low speed shouldn't be taking damage, and if vehicles likes trucks, semis or buses are brought into vanilla they shouldn't take damage regardless of speed when hitting zombies.
How bad is hemophobic Project Zomboid?
Since the change, I personally think Hemophobic is one of the most awful perks, as even a single zombie and only a slight blood splatter will cause your character to get panicked, which makes him instantly more vulnerable, if not useless, in any combat related situation.
According to the wiki the only vanilla neck cover is the Scarf and maybe* full helmets. Leather gloves are the way to go for the hands. If memory serves the firefighter's jacket protects the neck, easily found by 'borrowing' one from a zombie near a fire station.
We'd recommend finding a two-storey house near water with multiple doors and some storage space as early as possible, and then you can move your stuff upstairs when you find a sledgehammer later in the game. Sledgehammers are usually found in wooden crates and on shelves in warehouses.
- Dextrous (-2): 50% to inventory transferring time.
- Lucky (-4): +10% chance of finding rare loot. ...
- Fast Learner (-6): 130% XP for all skills except Strength and Fitness.
- Fit (-6) +2 Fitness.
- Wakeful (-2) -30% less sleep required.
- 7 Lumberjack.
- 6 Farmer.
- 5 Mechanic.
- 4 Electrician.
- 3 Veteran.
- 2 Burglar.
- 1 Carpenter.
Rosewood is probably the easiest starting location in the game as its small size and rural location guarantee a low zombie population. There are a few isolated farmhouses outside the town that make good starting bases, and a construction site in the south-west that's a great spot to find building supplies.
The strongest wall is the Level 2 Metal Wall, built with a metal frame, but considering the scarcity of the resources required to build them, I think most people will stick with wooden walls. Log walls (without the handy trait) are only sometimes stronger than wooden walls, and require much more wood (but fewer nails).
In Project Zomboid, the player aims to survive for as long as possible in an apocalyptic and zombie-ridden area around the city of Louisville, Kentucky - referred to as 'Knox Country' - which has been quarantined by the government.
The main goal in Project Zomboid is to stay alive as long as possible... or die trying. When the player dies, a message will scroll from bottom to top indicating how many years, months and days have passed since the game started. Also, dying Auto-Saves the game, meaning you have to start a new character.
What is the biggest city in Project Zomboid?
You're almost in the middle of the map and you will surely have all the loot you need to travel and survive if you can manage the zombies. Louisville - biggest city with most loot and most zombies.
Lumberjacks can tear through trees and zombies alike. Without any crafting skill specializations, starting Project Zomboid as a lumberjack is one of the game's easier options. You start off with extra points in fitness and strength, meaning you can run longer and hit zombies harder, as well as carry more stuff.
The best Backpack in Project Zomboid is the Military Backpack, it has the highest weight reduction and capacity however there are some great alternatives.
